'Big Lens, Small Films': The Canterbury Festival

Hello All!

Just a reminder that this Friday is the 'Big Lens, Small Films Festival' starting at 7:30 in the Powell Theatre at Canterbury Christchurch University, showing a series of short films from Film makers around Canterbury.

Prior to this, at 6pm in the Powell Theatre, there is a Film Forum, lead by Screen South, a local production company, and this will be a fantastic opportunity for anybody interested in Film Making.

Tickets to the 'Big Lens, Small Films' are £5, and this gets you into the forum for free!Hope to see you there!

Issue 1 Launch

We hope to see you at our KENT FILM extravaganza at Orange Street Music Club THIS Sunday! We’ve got a great evening planned. Not only are we screening some great short films, but the brand new issue of BIGLENS will be thrust upon the reading masses. Come along and turn a dull autumnal Sunday evening into a night of filmic wonder. Aim to arrive from 19:30 or so, but no later than 20:00 or might miss some stuff! Info on OSMC and how to get there can be found by clicking here. And if you can’t read maps or you’re just more of a follower, someone will be on campus to meet and walk people to the venue (further details when they are finalized). Remember: Entrance is FREE this Sunday, so if you’re not yet a member of the society come along and sample our wares! (And bring your friends!)

...Which means it's time for another BIGLENS meeting in the Shirley Barlow Room in Eliot, 7PM. We're happy to say that we've had a good few articles in for the next issue already, it's going to be a cracker!

I'd also like to bring your attention to the new "Reviews" web page that has been set to work alongside the print BIGLENS. Check it out here. And if you feel like contributing, just ask for permission and it'll likely be granted. It's pto5 if you're interested.

Monday Meeting

Thanks to everyone who dropped by last Monday for our first meeting, it is great to have so many willing to write. If you weren't there, we basically assigned articles for our first issue, and set the final deadline for the 29th of this month, so it's not too late to get involved. Right. As is now patently obvious, circumstances beyond current editorial control have prevented the release of the latest issue. The plan is to integrate the contents of the unforthcoming issue six into the new magazine, and that will be out for fresher's week (somewhere around the middle of September).

Finally Big Lens has a place to call home on the net. Not the most snappy site address I'll grant you, but unfortunatly "biglens" was taken by someone called Len, who, one might assume is... well, big.
